The Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team recorded a second consecutive victory over the Czech Republic in the series of friendly matches between the two countries. After 4-0 in the first match, today the Bulgarian team achieved success with 3-1 (25:21, 21:25, 28:26, 25:20).
The matches, which are part of the preparations for the European Championship starting next week, are being held in Sofia. The first two were closed to fans and media, but the last one (Thursday, August 10) will have free entry, the official website informs of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation.
Today, the Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team’s coach Lorenzo Micelli gave a chance to the players who get less playing time in official matches. Except for the last game, the match was more contested than the first check. Bulgaria won the first part with 25:21, and with the same result, the opponent equalized in the second. In it, the Bulgarians led until the middle of the game, but the Czech Republic made a comeback in 17:18 after a Bulgarian service error and even managed to lead by 5 points (19:25). The third game was the most equal and was literally point for point, as it had to be decided by extras (28:26). It was easier for the Bulgarian women in the next game, when they maintained a difference and managed to close the match after 25:20.
“We achieved two victories, but I think that’s not the most important thing. We played completely different lineups on the two days. That was the plan. We gave a chance to players who get less playing time. Today was their time to show themselves. I’m satisfied. I tried to make changes so that there was time for everyone. I am happy that even with these changes we did not lose. On Tuesday we played well. Yes, we know that they weren’t at our level because they were traveling and didn’t even have time to train. Thursday will be the real test where we will have to push because it will be our last test before the European Championships”, commented Lorenzo Micelli to the official website of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation. “In the last match, we will also have an atmosphere from the stands. First of all, I want the girls to throw themselves hard on the field. This is a national team – something that people are proud of. It is an honor for us to play and tomorrow we have to prove ourselves to the people , who came because of the team and why we are part of the Bulgarian team”, added he.
Bulgaria’s friendlies against the Czech Republic are the last before the European Championship (August 15 – September 3). The team is in a group with the teams of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Switzerland and the host Italy.
“We have to win these controls to gain more confidence. To win to respect. To show fight because mistakes are made, everyone does, but we have to show the zest and desire to fight for every point. Let the blood you’re on the field”, aid also the Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team’s coach Lorenzo Micelli.
