The 8th-seeded Maria Sakkari lost at the start of the Roland Garros

The 8th-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece) is out of the Roland Garros after losing in the first round to Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) by 0-2 (6:7, 5:7).

Both players exchanged two breaks in the first set and entered into a tiebreak, which Karolina Muchova won by 7-5. The second set was also running equally with one break for each player, but in the 10th game the Czech received two match points, which Maria Sakkari saved. Karolina Muchova won her next serve game and at the serve of her opponent, received another two break points at 15-40. Maria Sakkari saved the first, but the Czech player won the second and thus closed the match.

In the next round Karolina Muchova will face Nadia Podoroska (Argentina), who defeated Jessika Ponchet (France) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:2) in 1:03 hours.

Storm Hunter (Australia) also advanced to the second round after defeating Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:2, 6:4), while Kamilla Rakhimova (Russia) defeated Sara Bejlek (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:3) and Magdalena Frech (Poland) won her opening match versus Shuai Zhang (China) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1).

The 2nd-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) also did not faced any problems in the start of the French Open / Roland Garros and defeated Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) and in the next round will face her compatriot Iryna Shymanovich (Belarus), who defeated Panna Udvardy (Hungary) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:3, 6:1).

Elise Mertens (Belgium) advanced to the second round after defeating Viktoria Hruncakova (Slovakia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4), as well as Leylah Fernandez (Canada), who defeated Magda Linette (Poland) by 2-1 (6:3, 1:6, 6:3).
