The 41-year-old Barbora Spotakova described her European medal as a “small miracle”

At the age of 41, the Czech Barbora Spotakova amazes improved her unique collection in the women’s javelin throw – she has Olympic, world, and European titles, as well as the world record in the discipline with 72.28m.

At the Olympic Stadium in Munich, she won European bronze 20 years after taking part in a continental championship at the same venue and five years after her last major forum honor. She described this success as a “small miracle”.

The title in Munich was won by the Greek Elina Tzengko – only 19 years old. An athlete who was not yet born when Barbora Spotakova made her European debut in Munich in 2002.

“This is my first medal after the second baby. Before the sixth attempt, I told myself that I had to show my boys how to wrestle. That’s what I told myself. And then they ran to me, and I guess that was the most beautiful moment in my career”, said Barbora Spotakova.
