The 34th anniversary of Stefka Kostadinova’s unbeaten world record in the high jump

Today marks the 34th anniversary of Stefka Kostadinova’s world record in the high jump, which is still unbeaten. At the World Championships in Athletics in Rome in 1987, Stefka Kostadinova overcame 209 centimeters from a second attempt – an achievement that remains number 1 in the eternal rankings to this day.

Stefka Kostadinova is an Olympic high jump champion from Atlanta 1996 and a silver medalist from Seoul 1988. Two-time world champion in Rome in 1987 and Gothenburg in 1995. Winner of five titles of world indoor championships – Paris 1985, Indianapolis 1987, Budapest 1989, Toronto 1993 and Paris 1997. European champion from Stuttgart 1986.

Stefka Kostadinova has 4 gold medals from the Old Continent Indoor Championships – Piraeus 1985, Leuven 1987, Budapest 1988, and Paris 1994. He made his first jump over 2 meters on August 25, 1984, in Sofia. There are 197 jumps on this grandmaster border in a total of 130 competitions. A record 4 times she was voted No 1 Athlete of the Year in Bulgaria, five times No 1 in the Balkans.
