Danielle Collins gave an advance of the Americans after defeating Celine Naef by 2-0 (7:6, 6:1) and Sofia Kenin won a 3-hour match versus Viktorija Golubic by 2-1 (6:3, 6:7, 7:5). Thus, Team USA ensured their victory and took a lead by 2-0.
In the double match, Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend defeated Jil Teichmann and Simona Waltert by 2-0 (6:1, 7:6) yo make the victory of the Team USA flawless.
In the group A, the Czech Republic and the United States are leader with one win and will face in the last clash of the group to determine the winner and the team to qualify the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup tournament, which is considered unofficial women’s tennis world team championships.
Team USA is without its two top-ranked players — WTA No 3 Coco Gauff and WTA No 5 Jessica Pegula. They opted to play in the WTA Finals in Cancun, which was played just before the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
