The women’s Team USA smashed Serbia by 88-55 (25-23, 25-10, 16-7, 22-15) to qualify for the semi-finals of the Basketball World Cup. Thus, the American team extended its winning series at the World Cup matches to 28. The American players were undoubtfully controlling the match from the very first moment and did not give any chance to the reigning European champion.
The most valuable player for Team USA was Kelsey Plum with 17 pts, 2 rebs, and 4 asts. Aja Wilson added 15 pts and 8 rebs, while Alyssa Thomas made 13 pts, 14 rebs and 1 ast for the success of the American team.
For Serbia, Yvonne Anderson finished with 14 pts, 5 rebs, and 7 asts, while Jovana Nogic added 11 pts and 5 rebs. Ivana Raca made 9 pts, 7 rebs and 1 ast, but this was not enough for her teammates to succeed in the match.
In the semi-finals, Team USA will face Canada, who qualified after beating Puerto Rico by 79-60 (26-11, 18-12, 16-19, 19-18).
