Sweden women’s relay team won the cross-country skiing World Cup 4×7.5km race in Gallivare, despite missing several of their top stars.
The Swedish team of Moa Lundgren, Emma Ribom, Ebba Andersson and Moa Ilar finished first in a total of 1:20:19.3 hours and delighted the local crowd.
The German team (Laura Gimmler, Katharina Hennig, Pia Fink, Victoria Carl) came second, 13.5 sec behind. The Team USA (Jessie Diggins, Rosie Brennan, Sophia Laukli, Julia Kern) finished third, 27.5 seconds behind the winners.
“It was tough. Rosie Brennan was skiing so fast today so I was just trying to survive”, said Emma Ribom. “We had one task for today: stay with the US before handing over to Moa Ilar”, added Ebba Andersson.
Norway (Heidi Weng, Margrethe Bergane, Anne Kjersti Kalvå, Lotta Udnes Weng) and Sweden II (Sofia Henriksson, Marta Rosenberg, Lisa Ingesson, Louise Lindström) rounded out the top 5 by finishing 4th and 5th, respectively.
