Tatjana Maria is out of the German tennis team for Billie Jean King Cup

Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatjana Maria will not play in Germany’s playoff match in the Billie Jean King tennis tournament against Croatia due to injury.

“Two days ago I played in Shrewsbury and had to stop the match prematurely. My recovery will last for several weeks. This means that unfortunately, I will miss next week with the girls from the German national team. I am disappointed, but I wish them success”, wrote Tatjana Maria on the social network.

Jule Niemeier, Laura Siegemund, Anna-Lena Friedsam and Eva Lys will play for Germany. Angelique Kerber is not in the team because of pregnancy.

The winner will retain his place in the elite tennis division for women.
