The second-seeded Tatjana Maria (Germany) defended her title at the clay tennis tournament WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia with a prize pool of 259,303 USD. The German tennis player prevailed over Peyton Stearns (USA) by 2-1 (6:3, 2:6, 6:4) in just over two hours of play and became the second tennis player since the start of the season to win a second consecutive title at the same tournament after the world’s number one Iga Swtitek (Poland) in Doha.
Tatjana Maria recorded her 12th straight win in Bogota and the 21-year-old Peyton Stearns played in her first career WTA final. The German, who reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon last year, won the third trophy of her career. She also has won WTA 250 Mallorca Open in 2018.
Tatjana Maria won the first set by 6:3 and took a 2:1 lead in the second before Peyton Stearns won five straight games to tie the score. In the third set, the German made a break in the fifth game, which was enough for her to reach the final success.
