Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone improved her 400m record to 49.51 sec

Olympic and world champion, as well as 400m hurdles world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone continues to improve her performance in the 400m. The American won the gold at the USATF NYC Grand Prix with a personal best of 49.51 sec. The Olympic 200m bronze medalist Gabrielle Thomas took the silver with 50.29 sec, while Charokee Young (Jamaica) was third in 51.02 sec.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion with the Games record, and 2022 World champion with a world record time of 50.68 sec. Setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second (June 2021) and 51-second (July 2022) barriers in the 400m hurdles. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.

Exactly 11 months after her last race, Olympic and world 800m champion Athing Mu returned to the track with victory. The American won the 800m race with a time of 1:58.73 min.

The US indoor 60m champion Aleia Hobbs recorded her fifth 100m win of the season after once again going under 11 sec. She won the gold with 10.98 sec. Jamaican sprinter Briana Williams finished second with 11.04 sec, and 2022 US 100m champion Melissa Jefferson finished third with 11.06 sec.
