Switzerland with fifth victory in the women’s curling tournament at Beijing 2022

The Swiss team achieved its fifth consecutive victory in the women’s curling tournament at the Beijing 2022 Olympics and remains the only undefeated team. The world champions prevailed over Canada with 8:4, although they fell behind with 3:4 after the sixth end. In the next three ends, however, the Swiss scored five points, and in the eighth and ninth ends, they stole two points each to open a huge lead over their rivals.

In the last end, the team led by the skipper Silvana Tirinzoni preferred tactics of clearing the stones, and the Canadians were forced to give up the chase for the four points they needed.

The Olympic champions from Sweden already have a positive balance after a clear victory with 10:4 over the US team. The Swedes struck a decisive blow in the eighth and ninth ends, in which they took five points, mainly due to the excellent performances of the skip Anna Hasselborg.

With the victory, Sweden already has 3 wins and 2 losses, as are the indicators of the other two teams in third place – Britain and the United States. In the other two matches, the British prevailed with 7:2 over the outsider Denmark, while China defeated the Republic of Korea with 6:5 after the extra end.
