Khaddi Sagnia is a Swedish track and field athlete specializing in the long jump and the triple jump. She is a Youth Olympics champion and multiple national champion in the event, as well as the European bronze medalist. Her personal best is 6.95m.

Khadijatou “Khaddi” Victoria Sagnia was born on April 20, 1994, in Helsingborg, Sweden. She was very much into sports, participating in football, basketball, handball, and even taekwondo. She started with track and field in 2007 and has developed as an athlete at a very fast pace, being part of the senior national team. In 2010, she competed at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where she won the gold medal in the triple jump final.

Khaddi Sagnia started her competitive career in 2009, taking part in the Malmo Swedish Championships, finishing 5th in both triple jump and long jump.

In 2010, she won the Moskva European Youth Olympic Trials and competed at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where she won the gold medal in the triple jump final. In the triple jump, she also won the gold at the Stockholm Swedish Club Championships and the silver at the Savedalen Folksam Challenge. In the long jump, she earned the gold at the Goteborg Indoor Meeting, Goteborg SamsungGalan, and Goteborg Varldsungdomsspelen.

In 2011, Khaddi Sagnia won her first national title, triumphing with the long jump and the triple jump gold at the Goteborg Swedish Indoor Championships, while during the Gavle Swedish Championships won the triple jump gold and long jump bronze. She competed at the Lille IAAF World Youth Championships in both events but finished 9th in the triple jump and 11th in the long jump. Meanwhile, she earned the triple jump gold at the Helsinki FIN-SWE Match and also earned the heptathlon silver at the Falun Swedish CE Championships, proving to be the most talented Swedish athlete.

Khaddi Sagnia started convincingly the 2012 season by winning the triple jump gold at the Steinkjer NOR-SWE-FIN Indoor Match but tore her ACL in her knee and was sidelined for two years.

Khaddi Sagnia returned to competitive track and field athletics in 2014, finishing 4th at the Goteborg Folksam GP and Umea Swedish Championships in the long jump. However, during the season she succeeded in winning the gold at the Kalmar Folksam Challenge and the silver at the Helsinki Finnkampen in the long jump.

In 2015, Khaddi Sagnia won the 60m silver at the Satra Swedish Indoor Championships, but her biggest achievements were in the long jump where triumphed with the gold at the Baerum Nordenkampen, Soderhamn Swedish Championships, and Stockholm Finnkampen, as well as the silver at the Goteborg Folksam GP and Stockholm XL Galan. She competed at the Tallinn European U23 Championships, finishing 4th in the long jump, as well as the Beijing IAAF World Championships, finishing 7th in the final.

Khaddi Sagnia won another national title in 2016, triumphing with the long jump gold at the Sollentuna Swedish Championships, and during the season competed at the Rio 2016 Olympics, but failed to qualify for the finals. However, she competed at the Amsterdam European Athletics Championships, finishing 6th, at the Portland IAAF World Indoor Championships, finishing 14th, and debuted in the Diamond League’s Stockholm BAUHAUS Galan, finishing 9th. Meanwhile, during the season, she won the long jump gold at the Sollentuna Folksam GP and Goteborg Folksam GP, as well as at the Tampere Finnkampen, setting a personal best of 6.74m.

In 2017, Khaddi Sagnia continued dominating the local championships in the long jump, winning the title at the Helsingborg Swedish Championships, but also won the gold at the Goteborg Folksam GP, Karlstad Folksam GP, and Stockholm Finnkampen. She won the gold at the Vaasa European Athletics Team Championships First League and finished 7th at the London IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

In 2018, Khaddi Sagnia triumphed with the national long jump titles at the Gavle Swedish Indoor Championships and Eskilstuna Swedish Championships. She reached her most prestigious win so far at the IAAF World Indoor Tour’s Glasgow Muller Indoor Grand Prix, setting a new personal best of 6.92m. Khaddi Sagnia finished 6th at the Birmingham IAAF World Indoor Championships, as well as 7th at the Berlin European Athletics Championships and Diamond League’s London Muller Anniversary Games.

In 2019, Khaddi Sagnia again suffered health problems missing most of the season. However, she won the long jump gold at the Stockholm Folksam GP.

She returned to the track and field in 2020, winning the silver at the IAAF World Indoor Tour’s Glasgow Muller Indoor Grand Prix and bronze at the Indoor Meeting – Karlsruhe. Khaddi Sagnia triumphed with the titles at the Vaxjo Swedish Indoor Championships and Uppsala Swedish Championships, before winning the bronze at the BAUHAUS-Galan and Doha Diamond League. meanwhile, she earned the gold at the Goteborg Friidrott GP, Karlstad GP, Sollentuna GP, and 70th Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb.

In 2021, Khaddi Sagnia competed at her second Olympic Games – the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing 9th in the long jump. She earned two silver medals at the Diamond League’s Athletissima in Lausanne and Weltklasse in Zurich but also won the bronze at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships. During the season Khaddi Sagnia won the national titles at the Malmo Swedish Indoor Championships and the Boras Swedish Championships, as well as the PSD Bank Indoor Meeting in Dortmund and Stockholm Finnkampen. She also earned the silver at ISTAF Indoor Dusseldorf and the bronze at the ISTAF Berlin.

In 2022, Khaddi Sagnia won the long jump gold medals at the World Athletics Indoor Tour’s Muller Indoor Grand Prix and ORLEN Copernicus Cup and the Diamond League’s Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, where set a personal best of 6.95m. She also won the bronze at the Diamond League’s BAUHAUS-Galan and the silver at the Weltklasse Diamond League Final. competed at the Stanbul World Athletics Indoor Championships, finishing 12th, and the Eugene World Athletics Championships, finishing 6th. Meanwhile, during the season, she triumphed with the long jump gold at the Vaxjo Swedish Indoor Championships and the silver at the Norrkoping Swedish Championships.

Khaddi Sagnia proved her position as the world’s top athlete in 2023, competing at the Budapest World Athletics Championships and Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championship, but also won the gold at the Gothenburg Games and Nordic Indoor Match, as well as the silver at the International Jumping Meeting “Filahtlitikos Kallithea” in Athina. She earned the gold at the Malmo Swedish Indoor Championships.
