Olympic cross-country skiing champion Stina Nilsson has been included in the final squad of the Swedish national biathlon team for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, revealed the Swedish National Olympic Committee.
In addition to the 28-year-old Stina Nilsson, the team includes five other athletes – Olympic champion Hanna Oeberg, Olympic silver medalist Anna Magnusson, Linn Persson, Mona Brorsson, and Elvira Oeberg.
“Stina Nilsson is an experienced athlete, an Olympic champion. She has shown good form in recent World Cup competitions”, said Sweden’s NOC chief Peter Reinebo.
Stina Nilsson triumphed at the Pyongyang 2018 Winter Olympics in cross-country skiing in the individual sprint classic style. She also has two silver and two bronze medals from the Winter Olympics. The Swede is a two-time world champion and has five other silver medals from world championships.
In March 2020, Stina Nilsson decided to move to biathlon.
The Beijing Olympics will be held from February 4 to 20.
