Swedish biathlete Stina Nilsson showed on her Instagram account that all athletes will have a real fight with nature during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which begins next week. Stina Nilsson is already in Zhangjiakou, the area that will host biathlon competitions and is located 200 kilometers north of Beijing. Currently, the weather conditions there are quite severe, with temperatures in recent days reaching -20 degrees Celsius.
Stina Nilsson’s photo shows her entire face covered in frost, including her eyebrows and eyelashes.
“The weather here is like chips. Crispy”, wrote Stina Nilsson on his Instagram account on Saturday. On Sunday, temperatures in the area rose and even approached zero degrees. The head coach of the Swedish team Johannes Lucas told the Swedish television STV that so far everyone in the team is very impressed by what they see as conditions in China.
“The stadium is really great and the track is very nice. I think the whole area is great,” Lucas said. The first starts of the biathlon program are on Saturday, February 5.
