Absolute European champion and favorite for the Olympics gold in rhythmic gymnastics Stiliana Nikolova (Bulgaria) said she was satisfied with her performance at the European rhythmic gymnastics championship in Budapest. At the finals, she won silver on hoop and placed fourth on ribbon and fifth on ball, and also took gold in the women’s all-around.
“Definitely, this format is not easy, but we don’t play such a format for the first year. It’s the third year I’ve been playing at the European Women’s Championship, and I was prepared for such a tough competition. Overall, I’m satisfied with my performance”, said Stiliana Nikolova after the end of the competition .
Nikolova wants to focus on security in her game before the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“At the Olympics, it will be crucial that there are no gross mistakes in the first place, and yet the difficulty, the execution – everything in general must be refined and very well executed. From here on, I will concentrate on the safety of the game”, added the Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast and dedicated the won three his coach’s championship medal. “I want to dedicate the medals to my coach Mrs. Valentina Ivanova and to the entire staff that works with me. I thank everyone who is always with me and supports me, my family and all the fans. These awards show how much we are worked hard in the gym and it is a reward for all the fatigue, sweat and work that we have left behind. Behind this success are a lot of hardships, a lot of work and the support of the whole staff and ours to each other, and that is why we have such great results”, added she.
Stiliana Nikolova is a Bulgarian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 European all-around champion, the 2022 World all-around bronze medalist and hoop, clubs, and ribbon silver medalist, the 2023 World ball bronze medalist and team competition champion, and a two-time (2022, 2023) European all-around bronze medalist and champion in the team competition. At the national level, she is a two-time national champion (in 2023 and 2024) and the 2022 national all-around silver medalist.
At the junior level, she is the 2020 European Junior ribbon champion and ball silver medalist and the 2019 and 2020 Bulgarian Junior all-around champion.
