Spanish soccer babe Aitana Bonmati

Aitana Bonmati is a Spanish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Liga F club Barcelona Femeni and Spain women’s national team. She plays as an attacking midfielder and is considered one of the best players in women’s football.

Aitana Bonmati Conca was born on January 18, 1998, in Vilanova i la Geltru, Spain. She started playing football as a kid and trained in the youth teams of Ribes and Cubelles, before joining Barcelona Femeni Juvenil-Cadet in 2012 to grow her skills and gain experience in the top level of Spanish football. Aitana Bonmati was first called for the Spanish national team in 2014 to play for Spain U17 in the Euro U17 Women, finishing as a runner-up and losing the final against Germany U17 after penalties. With the Spanish women’s national junior teams, she played 7 matches and scored 4 goals with Spain U17, appeared in 12 matches, and scored 6 goals with Spain U19, and appeared in 9 matches and scored 2 goals with Spain U20. With the junior teams she won the silver at the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, 2014 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship, 2016 UEFA Women’s U19 Championship, and FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, as well as the gold at the 2015 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship, 2017 UEFA Women’s U19 Championship.

Aitana Bonmati made her senior debut for Barcelona Femeni in 2016, on June 18th during the quarterfinals of the Copa de la Reina in the 1-5 victory against Real Sociedad entering at halftime to assist Barbara Latorre’s goal. She continued playing in the tournament as a substitute entering the final minutes of the semi-final match against Levante. Aitana Bonmati appeared in the 53rd minute in the final of the tournament against Atletico de Madrid Femenino, but her team lost by 2-3. At the beginning of the new 2016/2017 season, she was part of the squad that won the Copa Catalunya, where she played and scored in both matches of the tournament. In October, she made her UEFA Women’s Champions League debut, playing in the Round of 32 against FC Minsk Women. During the season, Aitana Bonmati made 13 appearances and scored 2 goals in the Spanish Liga F.

In the 2017/2018 season, she continued to make appearances, mainly coming on as a substitute. Her only goal of the season was in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the Round of 16 match against Gintra Universitetas.

Aitana Bonmati took on a more leading role for Barcelona Femeni in the 2018/2019 season, entering the starting lineup. She played regularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, playing in the final but unfortunately losing to Olympique Lyonnais Feminin. During the season she scored twelve goals and played all but 5 matches in all competitions. In 2019, she made her Spanish women’s national football team senior debut and played in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Prior to the 2019/2020 season, Aitana Bonmati extended her contract with Barcelona Femeni until 2022 despite the interest of Bayern Frauen to transfer her. Meanwhile, she was awarded the Catalan Player of the Year. On January 2, 2020, almost three and a half years after her debut, she made her 100th appearance with Barcelona Femeni, and later in the year, she became a champion of the Spanish Liga F.

In the 2020/2021 season, Aitana Bonmati continued being a key player for the Catalan team, appearing in 31 matches, scoring 9 goals and making 9 assists in the Liga F, as well as 2 matches for Copa de la Reina and the incredible 9 matches 3 goals and 2 assists in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Not surprisingly Barcelona Femeni made a treble winning all the competitions they played and dominating European football.

In the 2021/2022 season, Aitana Bonmati and Barcelona Femeni were again unstoppable, making double in Spain by winning the Liga F and Copa de la Reina with the player appearing in a total of 29 matches, scoring 14 goals and making 7 assistances. Barcelona Femeni finished as the runner-up in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, losing in the final to Olympique Lyonnais Feminin by 1-3 with the Spanish footballer playing in all 10 games and scoring 4 goals.

Aitana Bonmati continued with her great performance in the 2022/2023 season, appearing in 23 matches, scoring 9 goals, and making 10 assists in Liga F, as well as scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in the only match she played at the Copa de la Reina. In the UEFA Women’s Champions League, she scored 5 goals and made 8 assists in the 11 matches she appeared. Barcelona Femeni won her second Champions League title and triumphed winning the Spanish Liga F. But her biggest success came later in 2023, winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup with the Spanish national team.
