Spain defeated the Czech Republic by 3-1 in a match from Group 2 of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2016 qualifications and remains unbeaten.
The first half ended goalless although the Spanish team had 75% ball possession and made five attacks. however, there was only one shot in the target for the whole first half.
The second half started with some dangerous counter-attacks by the Czech women’s football team and Eliska Sonntagova opened the score in the 56th minute. Spanish team responded immediately and Maria Mendez equalized two minutes later after assistance from Alexia Putellas. In the 62nd minute, Jenifer Hermoso made a turnover to score a second goal for the Spanish national team after the assistance of Mariona Caldentey. In the 70th minute, Mariona Caldentey scored the third goal for her team after assistance from Jenifer Hermoso to form the final 3-1.
Mariona Caldentey was named the player of the match, while Jenifer Hermoso, Maria Mendez, and Alexia Putellas were rated high for the Spanish team. On the other hand, the top players for the Czech Republic were Eva Bartonova and Eliska Sonntagova.
In the other match from Group 2 of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2016 qualifications, Denmark defeated Belgium by 4-2 at their Energi Viborg Arena. The hosts took a lead by 4-0 after the goals of Amalie Vangsgaard (29′ and 39′), Sofie Svava (44′), and Frederike Thogersen (62′), but Belgium reduced the score after the goals of Sari Kees (67′) and Feli Delacauw (72′).
Spain and Denmark are leaders in Group 2 with the full asset of 6 points, while the Czech Republic and Belgium are at the bottom without winning a single point yet.
