The current Olympic downhill champion Sofia Goggia inspired her fans and announced that she will participate in the Beijing 2022 Olympics.
In her Instagram account, the Italian alpine skier posted a video of her return to snow training and wrote that her next stop is the Chinese capital.
The President of the Italian Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malago, was happy to inform about this after the opening of the Games: “Sofia is ready and will return”.
Sofia Goggia was supposed to be the flag bearer during a parade of nations, but last month’s injury at Cortina d’Ampezzo prevented her from leaving for Beijing in time. In her place, the flag was waved by Olympic snowboard champion Michela Moioli.
Sofia Goggia is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. At the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, Sofia Goggia won the gold medal in the downhill, becoming the only woman to win Olympic gold for Italy in that event.
