The Italian alpine ski racer Sofia Goggia, who is defending her title from Pyongyang 2018, looked pleased after finishing her first training session in Beijing, less than three weeks after injuring her left leg and knee in a heavy fall.
Sofia Goggia finished in 12th place, 1.55 sec behind leader Priska Nufer of Switzerland.
Mikaela Shiffrin was a little faster and took ninth place with a deficit of 1.33 sec.
Two more training sessions are scheduled before Tuesday’s race.
Sofia Goggia did not take part in the super-giant slalom and arrived late in China to undergo additional rehabilitation at home in Italy. She sprained her left knee, partially severed a cruciate ligament, had a “minor fracture” of the fibula in her leg, plus tendon damage after falling in the super-giant slalom in Cortina d’Ampezzo on January 23.
There was light snow and fog at the top of the Yangqin track.
