Sloane Stephens won the title at the tennis tournament in Guadalajara

American Sloane Stephens won the title at the tennis tournament in Guadalajara (Mexico) with a prize fund of 262,727 USD.

The sixth-seeded Sloane Stephens won by 2-1 (7:5, 1:6, 6:2) against Czech Marie Bouzkova in a match that lasted 2:29 hours.

The match started well for Marie Bouzkova, who made a break and led by 1:4. However, the Czech was very hasty in the serves and hardly placed her first serve. This led to an equalizer for 5:5, and subsequently the success of Sloane Stephens by 7:5.

Marie Bouzkova showed her good game again in the second set and pulled again with 4:1, but this time she did not allow a surprise and closed the set with 6:1.

The decisive third set was completely under the control of Sloane Stephens, who made two breaks and triumphed with the title after winning with 6:2.

“I am very happy that I managed to take the title. I hope to continue this movement forward. All last year I devoted myself to training and my physical shape. The result does not appear immediately, but now it is good to see the fruits of your labor. I want to return to my previous positions. It’s very important to me. I’m very inspired”, said Sloane Stephens.

The 28-year-old American won her first title since 2018. Sloane Stephens is the 2017 US Open champion and now has won her seventh WTA title.
