The Romanian tennis star Simona Halep qualified for the fourth round of Wimbledon. The former world’s No 1 and 2019 champion of the tournament defeated the Polish player Magdalena Frech with 2-0 (6:4, 6:1) in 66 minutes.
“When I’ve won this tournament, it’s experience, self-confidence, you know how to play a match even if it’s not going well. In every match, the goal is to win, but it’s very important to control your emotions and show the best your good tennis”, said Simona Halep after the win.
In the next round, the 16th-seeded Romanian will play versus the winner of the match between 4th-seeded Paula Badosa (Spain) and two-time champion Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic).
Simona Halep has been ranked world No 1 in singles twice between 2017 and 2019, for a total of 64 weeks.. She was the year-end No 1 in 2017 and 2018. From 2014 through 2021, she was ranked in the top 10 for 373 consecutive weeks. Simona Halep won 23 WTA singles titles, including two Grand Slam singles titles: the 2018 French Open and the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.
