Two-time Grand Slam champion and former world’s number one, Romanian tennis player Simona Halep announced another postponement of the decision in her doping case.
“Today I found out that the decision in my case, which was expected this week, will be further delayed. This is terribly disappointing, as I have consistently said that all I ask for is to be judged. I is hard to explain the emotional toll that all of these delays have had and continue to have on me”, wrote Simona Halep on her social networks.
The Romanian tennis player passed a positive doping test at the US Open 2022, which showed the presence in her blood of the drug Roxadustat, which is on the list of prohibited substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The tennis player denies that she took it knowingly.
Simona Halep has been ranked world No 1 in singles twice between 2017 and 2019, for a total of 64 weeks. She was the year-end No 1 in 2017 and 2018.
