Sifan Hassan is preparing for the Tokyo Marathon and the Paris 2024 Olympics

The reigning Chicago Marathon champion Sifan Hassan is buzzing with excitement as she prepares for the Tokyo Marathon scheduled for March 3, 2024. The Dutch middle- and long-distance runner particularly excited to be among the top runners to be announced alongside former marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge, who is her mentor.

Speaking at an international media briefing, Sifan Hassan explained that she had already started preparing for the marathon while training for the Olympics in Paris, France.

“I’m fine and my preparation has just started. Maybe I celebrated too much after Chicago and took a long break and started training a week ago. But I’m physically and mentally fresh, which is the most important thing for me, and I’m really happy to be with Eliud because he’s my biggest role model in running”, said Sifan Hassan

The reigning London Marathon champion noted that she is training in Ethiopia.

“Right now I’m training in Ethiopia because of the high altitude, the weather in Africa is good… in the winter I can’t train in the Netherlands or America because we have snow”, added Sifan Hassan.
