Shericka Jackson won 200m gold at the Stockholm Diamond League

Shericka Jackson Stockholm Diamond League

Two-time 200m world champion Shericka Jackson (Jamaica) recorded a victory at the Stockholm Diamond League with a season best of 22.69 sec (-2.0 m/s). The Jamaican sprinter, who is clearly not at her best, was not happy with her performance, however, and it was evident in her demeanor. Shericka Jackson didn’t crack a smile even as she signed autographs for fans in the stands.

Julia Henriksson (Sweden) achieved a personal best of 22.89 sec for second place, and Amy Hunt (Great Britain) won the bronze with 22.92 sec.

Anavia Battle (USA) and Maboundou Kone (Ivory Coast) completed the top five in the event.

“Sometimes you have to fail to find out where you are. Oslo was a bit painful but it was also a lesson for me and today I did my best performance of the season and that was good. I’ve always had confidence as I feel in good form but now that’s good for me I’ve got a couple of weeks until the Jamaican championships and I’m in Europe for a while so it’s good to be able to recover from the disappointment in Oslo before I go home”, said Shericka Jackson after the race. “”I know I’m training well and things will work out and it showed today. After such a good season last year you’d think it would be easy to stay motivated, but for me I think I lost who I was as a person and went to training and just went through the motions. I think that’s why Oslo was a blessing for me. It gave me that realization that I still wanted to win. Sometimes I struggle a little and in Oslo I lost a little bit of who I am, but now I’m back and that was important for me”, added she.

Shericka Jackson is the fifth fastest woman of all time, while in the 200 m, she’s the second fastest woman in history.
