Shericka Jackson is fastest before the final women’s 200m at the World Championships

The women’s 200m final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene is one of the showpieces of the championships, and the results in the semi-finals herald something truly special in the medal race.

The fastest in the semi-finals was the leader in the world rankings for the season and the main favorite for the gold Shericka Jackson (Jamaica) with 21.67 seconds (2.0 m/s). World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica) was also uncompromising in her semi-final with 21.82s (-0.1m/s).

The third best time belongs to the American Tamara Clark – 21.95 seconds (1.4 m/sec). She was followed in this series by the world champion from Doha 2019 Dina Asher-Smith with 21.96 seconds and the two-time Olympic champion in 100m and 200m Elaine Thompson-Herah (Jamaica), who had to count on one of the two best “losers” times to find a place in the final.

The other three finalists in the 200m are Aminatou Seyni (Niger) in 22.04 seconds, Doha 2019 bronze medalist Mujinga Kambundji (Switzerland) in a new national record of 22.05 seconds and the season’s second fastest woman in the 200m Abby Steiner (USA) in 22.15 seconds.
