Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will not compete in 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest

Jamaican track and field athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will not compete in the 200m sprint at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, which will be help from August 19 to 27. The 36-year-old Jamaican athlete will defend her world title in 100m, which in Oregon last year was her fifth in the event.

In Budapest, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will start only in the 100m and in the 4x100m relay.

“Last year I said to myself: That was it. I will focus on 100m. Double is very difficult. It’s stressful. The workload you have to do is definitely hard”, said Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Last year in Oregon, she won the 100m title and took silver in the 200m and 4x100m.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is widely regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time. One of the most enduring track athletes in history, her career spans over a decade and a half, from the late 2000s. In the 100m, her special event, she is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a five-time world champion. In the 200m, she has won gold and silver at the World Athletics Championships, as well as an Olympic silver medal.
