Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce earned the 100m gold at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meeting in Lucerne

Jamaican track and field athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce smashed the competition in the 100m event at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meeting in Lucerne, which is a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce earned the gold with 10.82 sec, improving the meeting record.

The silver went to Oceanian record-holder Zoe Hobbs (New Zealand) in 11.08 sec ahead of Kennedy Blackmon (USA) with 11.11 sec.

“I’m satisfied to set a meeting record in my first 100m race of the season”, said Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. “It was a new situation for me to come back from injury and start the season this late”, added the athlete.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce returned from the injury, making her season debut earlier this month when finishing second over 200m at the Jamaican Championships. With her 100m performance in Lucerne, she now moves to an encouraging fourth on this year’s world list over 100m.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican track and field sprinter competing in the 60m, 100m and 200m. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time. One of the most enduring track athletes in history, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s career spans over a decade and a half, from the late 2000s to the 2020s. Her success on the track, including her consistency at major championships, helped to usher in the golden age of Jamaican sprinting. In the 100m, her signature event, she is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a five-time world champion. In the 200m, she has won gold and silver at the World Athletics Championships, as well as an Olympic silver medal.
