Shaunae Miller-Uibo failed to overcome the 400m heats at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest

Two-time Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and defending champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo (The Bahamas) failed to overcome the 400m heats at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, four months after becoming a mother.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo finished 7th in heat number three in 52.65 sec. After the heats, she commented that had no regrets about returning to the track so soon after the birth of her son Maisel on April 20. Shaunae Miller-Uibo reveals she had an injury in training but is happy to be competing again with her son also in Budapest.

Tokyo 2020 silver medalist and Eugene 2022 world runner-up Marileidy Paulino (Dominican Republic) is the top favorite for the title after season leader Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is out with a knee problem.

Marileidy Paulino is the second fastest competitor of the year with 48.98 sec and was the only one in the heats to fall under 50 sec with a score of 49.90 sec.
