Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100m in Lucerne ahead of Elaine Thompson-Herah

American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100m in Lucerne overtaking the Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah by a hundredth of a second.

Sha’Carri Richardson finished in 11.29 sec on the wet track in Switzerland, with Elaine Thompson-Herah remaining second with 11.30 sec. American Celera Barnes finished third with 11.40 sec.

It was Sha’Carri Richardson’s first race since the US State Championships in Eugene in June. She failed to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in the 100m and 200m, while Elaine Thompson-Herah had a very busy schedule. She runs at the World Championships, the British Commonwealth Games, and the Diamond League.

Elaine Thompson-Herah failed to reach the podium in Lausanne last week after being disqualified for a false start.

Sha’Carri Richardson is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 100m and 200m.
