Sha’Carri Richardson has withdrawn from the Miramar event

Budapest 2023 100m world champion Sha’Carri Richardson has withdrawn from the April 6 Miramar event, which was to be her first of the summer. The American shared a video on X explaining the reason behind her decision.

“Hi everyone, just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be racing this weekend in Miramar. I won’t be racing this weekend so I don’t want anyone to get their hopes up. It will be a great meeting with great athletes, but I will not be among those athletes this weekend”, said the the eccentric American athlete.

Sha’Carri Richardson rose to fame in 2019 as a freshman at Louisiana State University, running 10.75 sec to break the 100m collegiate record at the NCAA Division I Championships. This winning time made her one of the ten fastest women in history at 19 years old.

Sha’Carri Richardson is a two-time World champion, three-time Diamond League meeting winner, and a Pan American U20 champion. Sha’Carri Richardson ran a new personal best of 10.72 sec in 100m, becoming the sixth-fastest woman of all time and the fourth-fastest American woman in history. She is still missing the Olympics honor, but definitely is one of the favorites for the Olympics gold at the Paris 2024 Games.
