Reigning women’s volleyball world champion Serbia remains unbeaten at the World Cup 2022 in the Netherlands and Poland after the second group stage of the championship. The Daniele Santarelli-led team hammered the strong Turkish women’s volleyball team by 3-0 (25:20, 25:21, 25:23) in their final Group F match, played tonight in front of nearly 3,300 spectators at the Atlas Arena in Lodz.
Thus, Serbia became the outright winner of the group with 9 wins from 9 matches and 26 points. In the quarter-finals, the Serbian team will have to play with the 4th team from the same group, which will become clear later this evening after the end of the last matches. This could be the Turkey team again.
Turkey remains with 6 wins, 3 losses, and 17 points, currently in 3rd place in the standings, but could finish in 4th position after tonight’s matches. Certainly, however, the Turkish team will play in the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022.
The two quarter-final matches from this group will be on Tuesday (October 11).
Above all for Serbia was the star and captain of the team Tijana Boskovic with a great 23 points (3 blocks, 1 ace and 61% attack success rate) for the victory.
For the Turkey team, which played mainly with its reserves, Derya Cebecioglu (1 block, 1 ace and 73% attack success rate) and Saliha Sahin (1 block, 1 ace, 43% attack success rate) finished with 13 and 12 points.
