World champions Serbia have advanced to their 7th consecutive European Women’s Volleyball Championship semi-final. The Serbian team turned over and defeated the Czech Republic by 3-1 (24:26, 25:17, 25:11, 25:14) in the last quarter-final of EuroVolley 2023, played in the Belgian capital Brussels.
In this way, Serbia qualified for its 7th consecutive (since 2011) and 9th overall semifinal of European championships. In its history, the Serbian national team has 3 European titles, two silver medals, two bronze medals and one fourth place.
In the semi-final, Serbia will face the Netherlands, which eliminated Bulgaria by 3-0 in the quarter-finals. The match is on Friday (September 1).
Despite their elimination, the Czech Republic would record their best European Championship position since 2011, finishing 8th in the final standings.
An incredible match for Serbia made Tijana Boskovic, who scored a great 33 points (4 blocks and 59% attack efficiency) for the victory, Maja Aleksic accounted for another 16 points (5 blocks! and 61% attack efficiency) for the success.
For the Czech team, the experienced Michaela Mlejnkova was the only one with a double-digit asset with 19 points (1 block, 3 aces, 41% efficiency in attack and 51% positive reception).
