Reigning women’s volleyball world champions Serbia qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in a tough match versus Poland. The match was played Gliwice. Serbia overcame the resistance of Poland very hard with 3-2 (21:25, 25:21, 25:19, 24:26, 16:14) in the last quarter-final of the competition.
The Daniele Santarelli-led team will play against the USA, which eliminated Turkey in the other quarter-final. The match is on Wednesday (October 12) again in Poland.
The women’s volleyball team of Serbiais in the top 4 for the third time, after 2006 and 2018, when they won the trophy.
The top scorer was Tijana Boskovic with 36 points (1 ace, 1 block), Brankica Mihajlovic finished with 15 points (3 blocks). Jovana Stevanovic scored 12 points (1 ace, 4 blocks).
For Poland, Magdalena Stysiak was above everyone with a great 40 points (3 aces, 3 blocks), Olivia Rozanski finished with 11 points (1 ace, 1 block).
Poland remains out of medals for the seventh time. The team last won a medal from the Women’s Volleyball World Championships back in 1962 – bronze.
