Serbia women’s basketball team defeated Great Britain by 66-60 in the Round of 16 of the European Women’s Basketball Championship.
The serbian team took a lead of 3 pts in the first qu8arter, but the Great Britain reduced it in the second quarter and thus the half finished with result 29-28. However, strong second half for Serbia made the difference and they won the match.
Jovana Nogic was the best scorer for the winners with 16 pts, 4 rebs and 1 ast, while Yvonne Anderson added 10 pts, 5 rebs and 3 asts and Masa Jankovic 10 pts, 3 rebs, and 2 asts.
For the British team, Temitope Fagbenle was the top scorer with 20 ptsm 7 rebs and 3 asts, while Kristine Anigwe and Holly Winterburn added 13 ots each, but even this was not enough for them to win.
Serbia will face Belgium in the quarter-finals in a repeat of their clash from the same stage of the tournament in 2021, when the Serbian women prevailed by 74-73. Later, Serbia won the tournament itself and are currently defending their title.
