World champions Serbia and the Czech Republic advanced to the quarter-finals of the European Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The star of the Serbian team, Tijana Boskovic, scored 24 points in the emphatic success over the host Belgium with 3-0 (25:17, 25:13, 25:16) in Brussels. Thus, the three-time European champions in 2011, 2017 and 2019 await the Czech Republic for a place in the semi-finals.
The Czech women beat Ukraine by 3-2 (25:22, 25:22, 20:25, 10:25, 15:12).
The match went back and forth with the first four games split and the Ukrainians leading 3:1 in the tiebreak, but the Czech Republic then went on a key run of five straight points to take a 9:4 lead and that ultimately proved to be decisively. This is the first quarter-final ranking for the Czech women since the 2011 European Championship.
