Seniesa Estrada holds the record for the fastest knock-out in female boxing

Seniesa Estrada is an undefeated WBO light-flyweight champion, who holds the record for the fastest knock-out in female boxing – seven seconds, versus Miranda Adkins. The fight was held on July 24, 2020 and with the incredible win, Seniesa Estrada retained WBC Silver female light flyweight title.

“I remember trying to face a world champion but, at the last minute, my opponent got injured. They found Miranda Adkins”, commented on Seniesa Estrada for Sky Sports. “She had five wins and five knockouts. I went into the fight preparing like I was still fighting a world champion. I didn’t know what to expect. There was nothing on YouTube of her”, added she.

In the interview at Sky Sports, she explained that was preparing to fight Mike Tyson.

“The bell rings. I feinted but there was no reaction. So I let go of my combination. I’ve had a 32-second knockout before. But seven seconds? It was so quick”, said Seniesa Estrada.

She also commented on the idea to change the rounds from 2 minutes (as it is now for women) to 3 minutes (like the men boxing): “With two-minute rounds, it is really difficult to set a game-plan and get knockouts. I want three-minute rounds for every fight. We tried to get three-minute rounds for the Anabel Ortiz fight but she didn’t want to do it. A certain amount of female fighters want three-minute rounds. But it will be hard to change because a lot of women actually don’t want it”.

Seniesa Estrada is an American professional boxer who has held the WBA minimumweight title since March 2021. She previously held the WBC Silver light flyweight title from 2018 until 2021 and the WBA interim flyweight title from 2019 to 2020. As of September 2020, she is ranked as the world’s fifth-best active female light flyweight by The Ring and ninth by BoxRec. Hailing from East Los Angeles, she is of Mexican descent and started boxing at the age of eight.
