The legendary Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjostrom won another European gold. The 28-year-old swimmer won the 50m freestyle title in Rome with 23.91 sec. Thus, she already has a total of 27 medals from European championships in the 50-meter pool (16 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze). She became the champion in Rome and in the 50m butterfly.
Polish swimmer Katarzyna Wasick finished second in the 50m freestyle with 24.20 sec, and Valerie van Roon, the representative of the Netherlands, won the bronze medal with 24.64 sec.
Sarah Sjostrom is a Swedish competitive swimmer specializing in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. She is the current world record holder in the 50-meter freestyle (long course), the 100-meter freestyle (long course), the 50-meter butterfly (long course), and the 100-meter butterfly (long course), as well as the 4×50-meter medley relay (short course). She is also a gold medalist in Rio 2016 Olympics in the 100m butterfly, as well as a silver medalist in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 200m freestyle and 50m freestyle, respectively.
