Sandi Morris won the gold in the women’s pole vault at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade

Sandi Morris won another gold in the women’s pole vault at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

The 29-year-old American defended her title from 2018 Birmingham with 4.80 m. Her runners-up were Olympic champion Katie Nageotte (USA), who finished with 4.75 m, and Tina Sutej (Slovenia), again with 4.75 m.

Sandi Morris forged her victory with a third successful attempt at 4.80 m, while Katie Nageotte and Tina Sutej failed at that height. Unsuccessful attempts at 4.60 m and 4.70 m sent the Slovenian in third place.

Already as a champion, Sandi Morris asked for 4.90 m, where she committed three fouls.

In 2018, she won the title with 4.95 m, and in 2016 she was second with 4.85 m. Sandi Morris is a runner-up at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has won two silver medals at the last World Championships in London 2017 and Doha 2019.
