Russian athletes will not have problems with visas for the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the US

The Organizing Committee of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA, will assist Russian athletes in obtaining documents for entry into the country. This was announced by Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics.

Last season, Russian athletes had trouble entering the United States due to the suspension of visas in Russia. Olympic high jump champion Mariya Lasitskene was forced to miss the American phase of the Diamond League.

“Athletes will be given the right to enter, they will be able to obtain visas. This applies to all other teams, we will be persistent on this issue. The local organizing committee gave us assurances that this process will be carried out in accordance with the established protocol”, said Sebastian Coe.

Russian athletes will participate in the World Cup as neutral. As sanctions have been imposed on the Russian Athletics Federation, no more than 20 Russian athletes will be allowed to participate in the forum, it remains to be seen who they will be. There is a lot of work to be done on this issue, concluded Sebastian Coe.

The World Athletics Championships will be held from July 15 to 24.
