Russian athlete Irina Davydova will be deprived of her European Athletics medals in the 400m hurdles

Russian athlete Irina Davydova will be deprived of her medals in the 400m hurdles – gold at the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki and bronze at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich. She is accused of using doping by the Anti-Doping and Clean Athletics Union.

Russia’s official state news agency TASS reported that the World Anti-Doping Agency has provided the Clean Athletics Union with data extracted in 2019 from the information management system of the Moscow Laboratory.

Raw data are the result of sample analysis and may indicate whether a substance or metabolite has been detected or manipulated.

Irina Davydova was removed from the Clean Athletics Union for two years from January 17 this year, after they found abnormalities in the blood samples of the athlete, received from June 20, 2012, to June 30, 2015.

As a result, all her results during this period were annulled.

Irina Davydova won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the 24th European Championships in Helsinki on June 29, 2012, when she recorded a time of 53.77 seconds, which was the fastest in the world at this stage of the season.

Two years later, at the European Championships in Zurich, she won a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles.

The gold medal won by Irina Davydova in Helsinki will now be awarded to her runner-up, Denisa Rosolova of the Czech Republic. The silver medal will be awarded to the Ukrainian Anna Ryzhykova, who initially finished third, and the bronze will go to another Czech – Zuzana Hejnova.
