RUSADA has withdrawn all doping charges against Tatiana Kashirina

Tatiana Kashirina

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has withdrawn all charges of violation of anti-doping rules against the five-time world weightlifting champion Tatiana Kashirina, revealed the Secretary General of the Russian Federation Dmitri Vasilenko.

Tatiana Kashirina, who has a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics in the +75 kg category, was punished in late 2020 based on data from a Moscow laboratory containing the results of doping tests of Russian athletes from 2012 to 2015.

“On August 15, the federation received a letter from RUSADA about the removal of all charges against Tatiana Kashirina. The headquarters was looking for a way to allow her to participate in the Spartakiad, but, unfortunately, there was too little time for that”, said Dmitri Vasilenko.

Yesterday, 31-year-old Tatiana Kashirina won the “Golden Domes” competition, which was the first tournament after her return to the sport. Due to the punishment, the Russian missed the European Championships in Moscow, which took place in April 2021, as well as the Olympics in Tokyo 2020, where she was one of the favorites for gold.

Tatiana Yuryevna Kashirina is a Russian Olympic weightlifter, Olympic silver medalist, five-time World Champion, and eight-time European Champion competing in the +90 kg and +75 kg categories until 2018 and +87 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories.
