Rose Namajunas and Weili Zhang fought for the title in April this year at the UFC 261. Then Weili Zhang lost her title after Rose knocked her out in 78 seconds with a head kick. Chinese fighter immediately contested the stoppage, but looked out on her feet, and has since been criticized for supposedly making excuses for her loss.

While consideration had been given to ex-champ Carla Esparza, who holds a win over Namajunas and who is on an impressive run of her own, the promotion is opting to run this one back. Carla Esparza was quick to comment, her response a simple one – heartbreak and shrug emojis, in a Facebook post.
