Rose Davies won the 5,000m gold at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo

Australian athlete Rose Davies set a personal best in the women’s 5,000m event at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo. The 24-year-old athlete won the race in 14:41.65 min, just 2 seconds slower than the Oceania record. It was her third personal best of the year.

The silver in the event went to Margaret Akidor (Kenya) with 14:44.75 min, while the bronze was for Isobel Batt-Doyle (Australia) with 15:08.67 min.

There was another Australian triumph in women’s 1,500m after Sarah Billings won the gold with 4:04.66 min, while her compatriot Georgia Griffith won the silver with 4:05.35 min. Purity Chepkirui (Kenya) won the bronze in the event with 4:06.51 min.

Japanese women’s javelin thrower Haruka Kitaguchi claimed a hard-fought victory in her final attempt when she sent the javelin 63.45m to the delight of fans in the stands. She also won the world title in Budapest last year in her last attempt.
