Reigning champion Naomi Osaka is out of the AO 2022, Amanda Anisimova will face Ashleigh Barty

The reigning champion Naomi Osaka is out of the Australian Open after losing to American Amanda Anisimova with 1-2 (6:4, 3:6, 6:7) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes. The Japanese player made 45 unforced errors and her first serve was not successful enough. However, she had two match points, which missed and eventually lost. In the third set, both players were very precise, winning the serve games. Naomi Osaka had one break point in the second game, while Amanda Anisimova had two break points in the third game, but all were saved. The set was running equally until the 10th game at the service of the American. She gave match point at 30:40 to Naomi Osaka and then another one at 40:A, but saved both of them, and the game passed through several more deuces. In the end, Amanda Anisimova won it and did not allow Naomi Osaka to win the match. Thus, the set entered into a tiabreak, which the American won by 10-5 and thus qualified for the fourth round of the Australian Open.

In the fourth round, Amanda Anisimova will face the top-seeded Ashleigh Barty, who defeated Italian Camila Giorgi by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
