World’s number 102 Rebecca Sramkova (Slovakia) won the title of the WTA 250 Thailand Open tennis tournament on hard courts in Hua Hin (Thailand) with a prize money of 267,082 USD.
In the final, she defeated Laura Siegemund (Germany)by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) in nearly two hours of play and won the first trophy of her career. Rebecca Sramkova, 27, made four breaks in the match and lost her serve twice. In the second set, she took her rival’s serve for 5:4 and closed the match with her serve.
The Slovakian is coming off a strong season after reaching her first WTA final last week in Monastir, where she lost to Sonay Kartal.
She has won nine of her last ten matches. With the victory, Rebecca Sramkova will enter the Top 70 of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career. Before this week, her best ranking was 89th. She had not reached higher than No 111 before this year, which she recorded in 2017.
