Magdalena Stefanowicz is a Polish sprinter specializing in the 100m. She earned two major medals as part of Poland’s women’s 4x100m relays, including silver at the 2021 World Athletics Relays and 2022 Munich European Athletics Championships.

Magdalena Stefanowicz was born on April 21, 2000. She started in athletics at a young age and quickly showed her talent in sprints. She was the 100m silver medalist at the 2017 World Under-18 Championships.

Magdalena Stefanowicz started her competitive career in 2014, winning the 100m gold at the Czestochowa U16 Meeting and the Czestochowa Polish Junior Club Championships. During the next season, she continued competing locally and triumphed with the 100m gold at the Bielsko-Biala Meeting and Chorzow U16 Meeting, as well as the 60m bronze at the Brzeszcze Indoor Meeting.

Magdalena Stefanowicz won her first national junior medal in 2016, winning the 200m bronze at the Spala Polish U18 Indoor Championships. In 2017, she reached her first international success winning the 100m silver at the Nairobi IAAF World U18 Championships. She was also part of the Polish women’s 4x100m relay team for the Grosseto European U20 Championships but did not overcome the heats. Meanwhile, she earned the 100m and 200m gold medals at the Warszawa Polish U18 Championships, as well as the 60m gold at the Torun Polish U18 Indoor Championships.

In 2018, Magdalena Stefanowicz competed at the Tampere IAAF World U20 Championships, finishing 5th in 100m and 4x100m relay. Meanwhile, she earned the 4x100m relay gold at the Vyskov CZE-HUN-POL-SLO-SVK U20 Match, as well as the 100m and 200m gold at the Torun Polish U20 Indoor Championships, as well as 100m gold and 200m bronze at the Wloclawek Polish U20 Championships.

Magdalena Stefanowicz earned her first national medal in 2019, winning the 200m bronze and 4x200m relay gold at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships, as well as the 4x100m relay gold at the Radom Polish Championships. She competed at Boras European U20 Championships in the 4x100m relay and 100m, finishing 6th and 5th, respectively. Meanwhile, she won the 100m gold and 200m silver at the Leiria ECCC U20 Group A and also competed at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup in 60m and ORLEN Memorial Janusza Kusocinskiego in 100m.

In 2020, Magdalena Stefanowicz won the 4x200m relay gold at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships and the 4x100m relay gold at the Wloclawek Polish Championships. She triumphed with gold medals at the junior championships individual and relays, as well, but also won the 100m gold at the Jelenia Gora Outdoor Meeting and Karpacz Outdoor Meeting.

In 2021, Magdalena Stefanowicz competed at the Tallinn European Athletics U23 Championship in the 100m and 4x100m relay but missed the honor for a while. Meanwhile, she won the 4x100m relay silver at the Chorzow World Athletics Relays but also triumphed with the 100m gold at the Suwalki Polish U23 Championships and Bielsko-Biala Beskidianathletic Meeting.

Magdalena Stefanowicz won her second significant international honor in 2022, winning the 4x100m relay silver at the Munich European Athletics Championships. She also debuted in the Diamond League, winning the bronze at the Birmingham Diamond League Meeting in the 4x100m relay. Meanwhile, Magdalena Stefanowicz won the gold at the Copenhagen Athletics Games and Poznan Polish U23 Championships, the silver at the Suwalki Polish Championships and Olsztyn Memorial Zbigniew Ludwichowski, and the bronze at the 5. Memorial Wieslawa Maniaka in 100m. She also competed at the Eugene World Athletics Championships.

Poland women's 4x100m relays

In 2023, Magdalena Stefanowicz won the 4x100m relay silver at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division and finished 5th at the Budapest World Athletics Championships in the same event. She earned the 60m bronze at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships and 00m bronze at the Cyprus International Athletics Meeting, as well as the 100m silver at the Joensuu Motonet GP and the 100m gold at the Grand Prix Nove Mesto Nad Metují. She also became a national champion, winning the 100m gold at the Gorzow Wielkopolski Polish Championships.

Magdalena Stefanowicz was part of the Polish women’s 4x100m relay team that earned a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics, at the Nassau World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24. Meanwhile, during the 2024 season, she won the 60m and 200m bronze medals at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships, as well as the gold at the Sparkassen Indoor Meeting Dortmund and the silver at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes in 60m.
