Polina Kudermetova (Russia) qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Korea Open in Seoul after defeating Kathinka von Deichmann (Lichtenstein) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) in 62 minutes.
Both tennis players exchanged breaks in the beginning of the first set, but finally Polina Kudermetova reached one more to close the set by 6:3. The second set was under her total dominance, giving only one game to Kathinka von Deichmann. However, it was visible that Polina Kudermetova has still long way to go to grow as a leading tennis player.
This is the biggest achieved on the 20-years-old Russian tennis player, who is a younger sister of Veronika Kudermetova. In the next round, she will face Yanina Wickmayer (Belgium), who eliminated the third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) after 2-0 (6:3, 7:6).
Claire Liu (USA) and Yue Yuan (China) also qualified for the quarter-finals of the tennis tournament after retiring of their opponents – Arantxa Rus (Netherlands) and Kaja Juvan (Slovenia).
