Plamena Mitkova won the long jump title at the Izmir Balkan Athletics Championships

Bulgarian athlete Plamena Mitkova won the long jump title at the Izmir Balkan Athletics Championships. Under the heavy rain in Turkey, she won the gold medal with 6.50m (0.8 m/s). This is her first senior international title, positioning her as one of the top talents of Bulgarian athletics.

Florentina Iusco (Romania) won the silver medal by only 1 centimeter less – 6.49m (-0.4 m/s). Filippa Kviten (Cyprus) won the bronze (-1.1 m/s).

Plamena Mitkova is 2022 World Athletics U20 champion in the long jump and Top Athlete of Bulgarian in 2023. She is a multiple national champion of Bulgaria in the long jump with a personal best is 6.70m, achieved at the Sofia Bulgarian Indoor Championships. Plamena Mitkova has already covered the standard for the Rome European Athletics Championship.

Meanwhile, Buse Savaskan (Turkey) won the high jump gold with 192 cm, while Mirela Demireva (Bulgaria) remained second with 186 cm. The bronze went to Panagiota Dosi (Greece) with 183 cm.
