Petra Vlhova leaves Beijing 2022 Olympics earlier with an ankle issue

Olympic slalom champion Petra Vlhova left Beijing earlier due to an inflamed tendon in her left ankle and will miss the alpine combined race.

“After winning the gold medal in the slalom and given the slight physical problem, her next goals are a priority and we do not want to take risks, striving for a medal in the combination”, said Petra Vlhova coach.

The 26-year-old Slovak became the country’s first Olympic medalist in alpine skiing with the slalom award she won four days ago.

Her coach added that Petra Vlhova wants to take some time to rest at home and share the medal with her closest people.

Last season, Petra Vlhova became the first Slovak athlete to win a World Cup title.
