Petra Kvitova advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 China Open

Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 China Open with a prize pool of 8,127,389 USD in Beijing after defeating Wang Xiyu (China) by 2-1 (6:7, 7:5, 6:3). The match lasted more than 3 hours.

In the second round of the tournament, Petra Kvitova, who is a two-time Wimbledon champion, will face the Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova.

Another Czech tennis player and Grand Slam champion, Barbora Krejcikova, dropped out in the start of the WTA 1000 China Open after losing to Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva (Russia) by 0-2 (2:6, 2:6) in an hour of play.

Two more Czech tennis players advanced to the second round in Beijing. Linda Noskova prevailed over Fangran Tian (China) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2), and Linda Fruhvirtova beat the Dutch tennis player Arantxa Rus by 2-0 (6:0, 6:3).

Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) eliminated Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) after 2-0 (6:2, 7:6) and qualified for the next round where will face the 9th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France), who defeated Kateryna Baindl (Ukraine) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:4).
